On June 4th WeReachOut had its annual meet for 2010 in Campbell. It was a well-attended and successful event. Starting off with a prayer for peace by Stephanie and Jessica the mood was set to one of receptive openness. The audience was further placed in a space of relaxed attentiveness through a short meditation conducted by Sastry delving on appreciating the bounty we all enjoy, the dire need present in the world and the sincere intention to give and serve this multitude to attain its potential. This set the stage for Fr. Andrew to give the audience an insight into the stellar work he and his organization are doing to uplift the lives of the lowest castes, Thirumbars in Tamil Nadu, through sustainable programs that provide livelihood and a place to live. He also impressed the audience on the need for selfless service and was very well-received by the conscientious folks attending the event.
WeReachOut’s work and mission were substantiated further by a member of the audience, an avid sponsor, speaking from their heart on how the lives of their beneficiaries are taking a turn for the better through the relationship with WeReachOut and how much promise this holds and positive changes that are possible. A sincere and heartwarming message was also delivered by Richard, espousing WeReachOut’s cause and the need to instill a serving ethic in impressionable young children starting with his own daughter who saved up her birthday gifts of cash to sponsor a child for her education and getting involved in the selection process and monitoring her progress. This inspired the audience very much and there was a very enthusiastic response from them to sponsor and make a difference in society. A state of the organization segment was presented by Sastry to apprise the audience of the current focus and status of WeReachOut, the financials of the sponsors, amounts disbursed till date and the number of students impacted.
Kicking off the proceedings earlier was an art competition organized for children under 12 years that was well-received. Their art was judged and prizes awarded to the top three performances. Mementoes were also presented to Fr. Andrew and Raji’s mother as a mark of gratitude by Richard. A break for snacks and drinks served as a segue into the next set of proceedings where a platform was provided for another non-profit to share their message and for some light entertainment following that.
The program concluded with dance and music pieces by several kids who participated with gusto in conducting and participating in the several items. This tremendously regaled the audience and put them in a good frame of mind. They dispersed with a motive to serve and be aware of the power they hold in that regard to make a difference.
Overall, the program was a very effective means to reach out to the sponsors and other attendees and instill a message of service and social participation. Sathish patiently and diligently manned the reception and information desk providing valuable information and addressing questions. As a novel way to encourage children to participate each child was presented with a coin box for them to save money for sponsorship next year and the adults were given pamphlets containing information on how they can help make a difference through WeReachOut.

On June 1st, WeReachOut celebrated its second annual day in Campbell. It was well attended by over hundred well-wishers and the program was very well received. The event started off by the audience offering their condolences and sympathies to the victims of the calamities in China and Burma. It was followed by board members providing a status of the organization, its future plans and an update on WRO and its mission to those in the audience that are new to WeReachOut. Following this, there were some thought provoking and motivating views presented by three guest speakers - a long term volunteer of Sankara Eye Foundation, the founder of SVI and a senior member of the WRO advisory board - that shared their individual experiences in volunteering, its deeper meaning and rewards and the unique personalization offered by WeReachOut, ending with the chairman presenting his experiences and a deeper perspective of WRO, its mission highlighted by two specific students that WRO sponsors are empowering. The audience was then entertained by dance numbers by kids and a very exciting magic show. Several attendees took the opportunity to review the student information and sponsor some deserving students. During the proceedings several children present in the venue were given an opportunity to present their thoughts and all of them wholeheartedly supported WeReachOut's cause and mission. Overall, it was a very successful event for WRO in expanding its reach and getting out its message to more people in its mission of empowering the education of underprivileged children.

WeReachout had its first annual meet with sponsors on June 2nd. Filled with information sessions and entertainment it was a very memorable event. Starting off with a presentation of how it all began, the audience was apprised of what our past year has been and what the future plans are with narratives from several members of the WeReachout board. Our special guest speaker then enlightened the attendees on what it is to be charitable, with a very profound observation that it was ultimately the growth of the individual and an increasing of their awareness towards the world's issues and needs thereof. This was followed by a few of our sponsors sharing their experiences and WeReachout's presence that reaffirmed our faith in the organization, its vision and its work and set the stage for enhancing it and reaching out to more needy children out there. In subsequent segments, the invitees were thoroughly entertained by the Indian Fusion Dance Academy, the magic of Amazing Vijay and folk Dances by Raga Mallik Tamil Folk Group. It was a tremendous treat to watch the enthusiastic and energetic performances by the talented children and young adults learning dance from these academies! The meet ended to thunderous applause and endorsement from all attendees with a renewed focus on helping the needy in any means and ways possible.
